“Austria Original Music Sissi” showed us a love story of Princess Sissi and young Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria. The musical performance showed at Nanjing culture and arts center. I went there to watch the musical with my mother at 7:30 on November 1, 2009. I have chosen this performance because I watched the famous movie when I was young. Now I still liked the princess Sissi. She is a great person in my mind. I could learn many things from her. I felt excited to watch the performance. At that time, I almost cried.
The performance was excellent that I ever seen before. The stage musical scenes were so many, such as Hungarian plains romantic, Austria Hofburg place. Through the most advanced lighting, projection technology and the original scenes were to restore the magic of the stage. Props were based on the original king reproduction, including the furniture, lamps and mirrors and so on. Actor luxury jewelry and fashion design were be strong representation of the magnificent palace life. This was a beautiful classic exotic visual feast of the European court. I felt the magnificent baroque-style palace in Vienna, as well as beautiful scenery in Europe.
I really liked the performance. The prima Donna was Nicole Ciroth. I talked and made a friend with her after performance. She was a friendly person. Nicole just liked the real princess Sissi because she had a kind heart and was willing to help others. Then we took photos together.
This performance gave me a great chance to enjoy the European culture and learn English. It showed the Europeans’ lifestyle dresses, history and many things in the performance.
I will never forget that day’s performance.

Nanjing Confucius Temple is in the Qinhuai scenic area. It covers the inner Qinhuai River strip area from the East Watergate in the east to west Watergate in the west. Lantern Festival was traditional Chinese Festival. It was falling on the 15 of the 1st lunar month, on which lantern displays are held at night, a custom handed down from the Tang Dynasty.
I went to Confucius Temple with my mother at 5:00 P.m on February 8th. The show started on February 1 and ended on February 12. My mother and I went there to celebrate the lantern festival and felt the traditional culture of Nanjing. We have chosen there because it was a good chance for me to learn the history of Chinese lanterns.
I really liked this kind of public events because Qinhuai color lanterns are Nanjing famous folk arts. In other places, you did not have a chance to see such beautiful lanterns. Qinhuai color lanterns were originated as early as in the six dynasties and in Ming dynasty, they had own the reputation of “Qinhuai color lanterns are the best in the world”. They are famous for their beautiful shapes, bright colors and meticulous work man ship. I was very interested in the beautiful lanterns. When I walked along the lanterns’ road. I felt that I came to Qing dynasty and talked with history. Beside the Qinhuai River, there were many old Qing dynasties’ houses. It gave wings to imagination. It was so beautiful in Confucius temple at night.
I was intoxicated with the beauty of the Confucius temple. I will invite more people to come to Confucius temple to enjoy the Chinese lantern. Confucius Temple is a mirror of Nanjing splendid history.

Fashion Show

The 2009 GCA Fashion Show organized by students’ council was being held on April 27. This event showcased student-designed outfits in three categories: prom clothes, casual party clothes and ideal school uniforms. This was be the third year that GCA has held an annual fashion show and it was be an impressive and exciting event.
I was glad that I was chosen to be the model of fashion show. Our group has chosen my design of prom clothes to make the real clothes at last. I was very happy about that. I prepared for the fashion show for one month. We payed for tailor to make the clothes. It cost us one thousand Yuan. It’s very expensive, but the result was great. The fashion started at 6:30 P.m in the NFLS’s country yard. The sound and light effects were excellent. The big stage setting with words were very shining. In the afternoon of the performance day, I went to shop to get my clothes and make up there. It spent me about 2 hours to do that before that, I staged at school and did dress rehearsal of the performance. From them, I knew how to walk and when to walk. I practiced my walking posture to have an elegant and graceful carriage. Then I went back to school at 6 p.m.
I got ready to the performance I waited and looked at others on the stage. I didn’t feel nervous because I told myself I just need to the walk and show my beauty to others. I thought it was easy to me. I believed myself and full of confident in my mind. In fact, I couldn’t see very clearly because I didn’t wear classes. So I thought that is why I didn’t feel stress. After the performance, many people took pictures with me. I felt very proud of that. The performance was too short and the most important thing that I learned from it is believe yourself: “you can do it”. The fashion show was not a tough thing for me. As I walked on the stage, someone hoped me to fell down. But I didn’t care what they say. I just paid more attention into my walking posture.

Americans always say:” I know what I am doing.” The main spirit of this sentence is set up your goals and perseverance to keep doing it.
At the beginning of the term 3, I set up a goal to encourage me to help more people as possible. I will never forget March 15th this year, when I went to Amity Bakery to help children who have mental problems to make the bread and cakes. Two Grade 11 students and I went there at 9:00 o’clock. First, we changed the clothes and ware the baker clothes. Then we chosen the bread that we wanted to make. The teachers started to prepare materials and put everything into concrete mixer. We turned off the concrete mixer until everything in it was become yellow and sticky. The teacher got all the stuff out of concrete mixer and put on the table. When I waited all the stuff become cold, the children with mental problems were coming. Two of them looked cute and they followed us. The teacher taught us how to make it and we corrected children’s posture. After that, we all made the pastes into small balls. The small balls were not like the ball we always make. We must practice more then can do it. Two children studied very slowly. We passed on knowledge or skills in hands-on fashion. They did not speak but used their faces to show their happiness. I looked at the children’ faces and helped them more carefully. One movement you needed to teach the children ten times. It was a tough work for me to teach them. The teachers there looked more patient than us. They took a good care of the children just liked their children. I admitted of them. They devoted their life into this career. It was not easy for them. If you always stay with people who have mental problems, you may get psychology disease. So, we needed to give more love to these children.
Our society need more people like us to take care of children. Through they have mental problems, but they still have hot hearts. They know how to thank to people who help them.
I remembered another volunteer experience. On March 14th this year, when about twenty Danish students came to visit GCA. I was lucky to be a guide for these students. My job was to take them traveling around our school for two hours.
My partners and I welcomed two girls named Julie and Sofie. They were both very friendly and kind. So, we had a great time together. They asked me something about our school. The most things that they interested are clothes and shoes. They thought they could buy some beautiful, cheap clothes and shoes in Nanjing. So, we gave them addresses of places where they could go. After that, we took them to the post office to buy the stamps. Then we went to the food market near school and two girls bought two bottles of Soya bean milk to drink. It was a special Chinese drink.
The activity let me learn more Danish culture and was good for me to practice my skill to be a guide.
I am looking forward more volunteer works in the new term.

The title of exhibition is “The whole wide world, magnificent Chinese calligraphy-- Jinlin Provincial Museum Zhang Daqian Painting Exhibition”. I went there with my mother at 10:00 am on Feb 15. The exhibition showed from Feb 1 to Feb 15. It was in the Nanjing Museum. When I first time went to the exhibition, I felt that I come to the art world, I walked along the glass barrier and enjoyed the beautiful paintings. Zhang Daqian is the most famous artist in China and I really like arts, so I choose this exhibition. It was a good experience for me to learn more about the Chinese paintings. All the paintings are from Jilin.
The one of painting was called “Dong Puo Ju Shi”. It was my favorite painting. It showed a man wears traditional Chinese clothes and hats. He also held a bamboo stick and wore a smile on his face. I thought the main idea of painting was to use Su Dong Puo to describe the Chinese Confucianism. It told people to become peace and do not seek fame and gain, etc. Su Dong Puo is the Chinese famous poet and writer. The painting also showed us the Zhang Daqian personal hobbies. Maybe he admired Su Dong Puo.
I really liked the exhibition. I thought it was very exciting and interesting because the paintings just like the story to show us the people life, society, transportation and many other things. At that time, Zhang Daqian was a good painter and good at painting people, flowers and animals. When I saw each painting, I felt that I am to be personally on the scene and talked to people in the painting.
Zhang Daqian’s paintings showed us the ancient Chinese painting skills that gave me many suggestion in the art class such as arts is a long process that need us to be patient. Don’t want yourself success immediately that arts need us to paint more carefully and smoothly.
